How to visit Montserrate in Bogotá, Colombia (2023 Guide)
Montserrate is the highest point of Bogotá, where you can admire the capital city of Colombia from an altitude of 3,125 meters (10,300 feet). Visiting the mountaintop is quite simple and can be done in a few ways.
By the funicular train or cable car
The easiest way to get to the top is by taking the funicular train, which operates every day and costs 27.000 COP two ways. On Sundays, it costs 16.000 COP, and it is often more crowded.
The timetable for the funicular train:
Monday to Friday – 5.30 AM to 11.45 AM
Saturday – 5.30 AM to 4.00 PM
Sunday – 5.30 AM to 6.00 PM (ticket office closes at 5.00 PM).
The cable car (teleférico) is available on Sundays from 5.30 AM to 6.00 PM (ticket office closes at 5.00 PM).

By Hiking
It’s possible to hike to the top. There are two trails to the top. The traditional route is 2.5 km, and takes up to 2 hours, while the shorter trail is just 1.5 kilometres. The trail begins from the ”Sendero a Montserrate”, which is next to the funicular train:
